Polysorb sutures are composed of Lactomer glycolide/lactide copolymer, a synthetic polyester made from glycolide and lactide (derived from glycolic and lactic acids). The sutures are coated with a mixture of caprolactone/glycolide copolymer and calcium stearoyl lactylate. They are colored violet for increased visibility and are also available in an undyed version.
